For the first time in a Los Angeles Lakers uniform, Russell Westbrook looked like his usual dominant self. With LeBron James on the mend, the former MVP stuffed the stat sheet en route to a victory over the San Antonio Spurs in overtime.

Anthony Davis was certainly pleased with the performance. But the Lakers star was adamant that this can't be an anomaly – this has to be the norm for the Brodie every night for the purple and gold to thrive.

Via Lakers reporter Kyle Goon:

“I told Russ, I said, ‘Whether I play, ‘Bron play, we don’t play, it doesn’t matter. You still gotta be yourself.’ He did that tonight. The way he played tonight was incredible. And we need that from him every night.”

Russell Westbrook had his best game in a Lakers jersey by far against the Spurs. The nine-time All-Star tallied 33 points, 10 rebounds, eight assists, and three steals while shooting a solid 15-for-27 from the field.

The Russell Westbrook era had gotten off to a rocky start in Hollywood. But what's a good story without a few bumps and bruises along the way, right? Lakers fans can only hope that they get a truly satisfying ending as the season carries on.
