Russell Westbrook opted into his $47.1 million player option on Tuesday with the Los Angeles Lakers and shortly after, celebrated with comedian/actor, Kevin Hart.

TMZ Sports caught the two outside of a classy West Hollywood restaurant called LAVO Ristorante, dapping each other up and having the time of their lives with laughs all around.

It wasn't exactly surprising to see Russ exercise his player option because it became increasingly unlikely any other team would be willing to pay such a hefty salary. The Lakers guard undoubtedly struggled in his first season with Los Angeles, but there is still optimism for the future.

The organization is reportedly willing to work things out with Russ and they truly want to see him succeed alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis. The veteran PG struggled to shoot the ball efficiently in 2021-22 and turned the ball over far too many times, but we can't forget what type of player Westbrook is. This is a nine-time All-Star and a future Hall of Famer.

All in all, it was just a miserable campaign for the Lakers but if he can build better chemistry with his teammates and this group can stay healthy, a return to the playoffs should certainly be in the cards.

It's very promising to see Russell Westbrook in good spirits as he looks to improve his game this summer and come back with a vengeance.
