No one would want to be in the shoes of Russell Westbrook. Ever since joining the Los Angeles Lakers in the offseason, he has received nothing but a plethora of criticisms. Some warranted, some unnecessary. Then there are those that are just stupidly disrespectful.

But through it all, Westbrook has handled things quite admirably. He knew that joining LeBron James and the Lakers will always come with extra scrutiny. But he has stayed resolute despite all the challenges.

On Monday night, the former MVP tallied 20 points, four rebounds, and 11 assists to help the Lakers beat the Cleveland Cavaliers, 131-120. After the win, Westbrook had to let something out of his chest, per the report of ESPN.

“There is nothing better than shutting people up.”

The 33-year-old Westbrook has now scored at least 20 points in three straight games, including the one against the Toronto Raptors, which he sent to overtime with a gutsy three-pointer off a steal. The Lakers, who improved to 31-41, could sure use more high-scoring outputs from Westbrook if they want to avoid an early vacation.

Westbrook has often been vilified for his seeming stubbornness and erratic style. But he has always stayed true to himself, and there's value in that. He's not out there to please everyone, but to help the Lakers win games.

He was recently shaded by Minnesota Timberwolves guard Patrick Beverley, got called “Westbrick” by a Timberwolves fan, and got trash-talked by a Raptors fan in a parking lot, but it seems Westbrook only gets fueled by all the hate.
