Detroit Lions defensive tackle Damon Harrison sat out the team's early offseason workouts. Fortunately, it appears he is set to return in time for training camp.

Harrison and the Lions had reportedly been set to engage in negotiations for a new deal. According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, he still plans on reporting this week:

DT Damon “Snacks” Harrison tells me “I’ll be there!” when veterans report to camp Wednesday. He and CB Darius Slay sat out minicamp for contract reasons. Doesn’t sound like any new deal yet, but Snacks – a bigtime team leader – plans to show.

The Lions will certainly be happy to have Harrison at camp. He had established himself as an integral part of their defense during the 2018 campaign. He will be able to continue to prove his worth by showing how committed he is to maintaining his level of play.

Detroit acquired Harrison from the New York Giants in exchange for a fifth-round pick. He quickly made his presence felt by filling in as the anchor of the Lions' defense up front. He is optimistic about returning to his All-Pro form.

Although Damon Harrison plans to report to camp, there has not been any indication of cornerback Darius Slay's plans. Slay is in the same position, vying for a new deal with the same agent: Drew Rosenhaus. While it is safe to assume he could take the same course of action, it will be interesting to see if both of the Lions' more notable stars on defense ultimately show up.
