The Detroit Lions possess the No. 3 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, making it possible for them to trade back in the first round. Bob Quinn, the GM of the Lions, says that Detroit has had conversations about trading the No. 3 pick in the draft.

“I've had a few of those conversations over the last week or so. Had a few of those conversations, honestly, as far back as the combine,” Quinn said, via ESPN's Michael Rothstein. “And then there will be more substantive talks next week if people are interested.

In the months leading up to the draft, Quinn has made it very clear that the Lions are open to dealing the No. 3 pick. By doing so, Quinn is hoping that one of the quarterback-needy teams decide to give up a ransom to move up to Detroit's first-round pick.

For the most part, everyone has assumed that the Miami Dolphins will be the team to complete a trade with the Lions. With three first-round picks — including the No. 5 pick — the Dolphins have more than enough draft capital to make a move.

At the same time, the Lions would prefer to move back, acquire more picks, and still get the player they desire in the first round. While Detroit's preferences are well-documented, Quinn would like to have a deal in place by next Thursday, the first day of the draft.

There are quite a few teams that could call the Lions to speak about a trade involving the No. 3 pick. On the other hand, it is unclear what Detroit is looking to acquire for their early first-round pick.
