Reports have begun to surface regarding Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford being involved in trade talks this offseason. It appears they will not be subsiding any time soon.

The Lions have since denied the rumor that reportedly confirmed Stafford was being shopped. Local 4 has doubled down on their sources.

We stand by our story and by our sources. We find tremendous validity in what we are reporting because of what Kelly Stafford posted on Instagram. Before our report was made, she posted that if Detroit was done with her husband, then they would like to go to the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chargers need a quarterback after Philip Rivers left.

The report seems to be relying heavily on the comments that were made by Stafford's wife in response to all the trade speculation on her social media. Whether or not the Lions are doing their due diligence on the trade market, it remains to be seen if a trade will actually come to fruition.

It is safe to say that the prospect of Detroit parting ways with Stafford would not be too far-fetched. They are coming off another losing season under head coach Matt Patricia and they could be on the cusp of a significant rebuild now that they own the third overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Meanwhile, Stafford is heading into his 12th year in the league and still has yet to record his first playoff win. Despite the stellar numbers he has put up over the years, it has largely come to no avail with the Lions. It will be interesting to see how open he is to getting a change of scenery elsewhere while he still has plenty of gas left in the tank.
