Following a 2-2 draw with Chelsea over the weekend, Liverpool is dealing with a full-blown COVID-19 outbreak which is putting Thursday's Carabao Cup semifinal first leg against Arsenal in serious doubt.

Manager Jurgen Klopp, Allison Becker, Joel Matip, and Roberto Firmino all missed out on Sunday due to the virus and are expected to be sidelined later this week as well. Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho, and Curtis Jones just returned.

Of course, Mo Salah and Sadio Mane just left for AFCON and will miss around a month as they play for their Egypt and Senegal, respectively. That leaves the Reds frontline quite shorthanded for the time being as Diogo Jota is set to be relied upon heavily.

It's unknown if there are more COVID-19 cases at this point but typically, it starts with a few players and grows. The EFL said this fixture will go on as planned for the time being, but that could change leading up to Thursday.

The virus has been ripping its way across the Premier League lately, registering a record-breaking 103 cases last week during a six-day span. Postponements seem to be a common occurrence at this point, but let's hope Liverpool can find enough players to suit up against Arsenal. Worst case scenario, they call up some youngsters.
