The Orlando Magic had a successful season as they finally made their first playoff appearance in seven years. The team wants to grow forward after their first foray into the postseason, and Jonathan Isaac has lofty goals to help the team make that dream a reality.

Alex Kennedy of Hoops Hype had a sit-down with Issac and talk about his experiences with the Magic and Team USA. He had nothing but positive things to say of his experiences and revealed that he has a new goal. Kennedy asked if it has something to do with being one of the best defenders, and former Seminole was straightforward with his answer:

“Absolutely. First and foremost, my goal is to do whatever it takes to help my team win. I think defensively, I can do a lot to help my team win. That’s where it comes from; it’s not really wanting to win an award or the pride that comes with that. It’s just wanting to help my team win. I can be a great help and impose my defensive will in games and that’s what I want to do.”

Isaac has the tools to succeed on the defensive end of the ball. His long arms and 6'10” frame makes him a pest in passing and driving lanes. In his two years of pro ball, he has 0.9 steals and 1.3 blocks to go with his 9.5 points per game.

If there's one knock on his game, it's his lack of rebounding despite his size. His measly weight of 210 lbs may have something to do with it, but that is probably something he is aware of. Should he be able to improve his numbers on that end, there's no reason why he would become the best defensive big to grace the hardwood.
