At this point in the offseason, teams are filling out the remainder of their rosters for the 2017-18 NBA season. For the Orlando Magic, they have remained relatively quiet since signing Arron Afflalo, Jonathon Simmons, and Marreese Speights in free agency.

However, according to Darren Wolfson of 5 Eyewitness News, the Magic are close to signing Adreian Payne to a one-year, two-way deal:

Under the NBA's new collective bargaining agreement, every team may sign up to two players to two-way deals. As a result, Payne will spend most of the 2017-18 NBA season with the team's G-League affiliate and up to 45 days on the main roster.

Originally the 15th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, Payne has played limited minutes with the Atlanta Hawks and Minnesota Timberwolves. This past season, he was sidelined indefinitely while being treated for a condition of low platelet count (thrombocytopenia).

For the Magic, it will be another year of rebuilding. Along with the three free agents they signed, the Magic also selected Jonathan Isaac with the sixth overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. While there is less competition in the Eastern Conference, the Magic are projected to only win 32 games and finish in the 10th spot according to ESPN.
