For much of the recent summer transfer window, Raheem Sterling was linked with a move away from Manchester City. While he wound up staying put with the Premier League side, Sterling is now once again fueling the rumors of a possible exit.

In speaking to the Financial Times, Sterling detailed that he is much open to leaving Manchester City.

“If there was an opportunity to go somewhere else, I would be open to this at this point in time,” Sterling said. “Football is the most important thing to me.”

The Man City star did not make note of which clubs he would have an intrigue in joining, but he did hint at his possible interest in signing with either a La Liga or Ligue 1 side.

“As an English player, all I know is the Premier League and I have always thought one day I would love to play abroad and come up against that challenge,” Sterling said. “I actually should be learning a few different languages. I quite like the French accent and Spanish.”

Sterling has been linked with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid over the past year. But much outside noise has speculated that Barcelona would be the leading candidate to sign the English international should he become available in either of next year’s transfer windows.

More so, one recent report from the Spanish-based outlet Sport outlined that Sterling is “crazy” to join Barcelona, which comes after the Catalan side made a push to sign him over the latter stages of the summer transfer window.

Sterling has a mere two years remaining on his current contract deal with Manchester City. While he has been in the rumor mill over the possibility of signing an extension deal with the reigning Premier League champions, Sterling is now open to joining England internationals such as Atletico Madrid fullback Kieran Trippier in taking on a new challenge outside of England's top flight.

For now, Sterling sure is much focused on helping Man City successfully defend its Premier League title.
