There was some doubt as to Khalil Mack's availability for the Chicago Bears in their upcoming Week 7 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams following reports that the linebacker missed practice due to a back injury. Bears head coach Matt Nagy has provided an update on Mack, and as it appears, the 29-year-old should be good to go for Monday.

According to Nagy, Mack was held out of practice merely for precautionary measures:

“I think we’ll be OK,” Nagy said, via Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune, (h/t Charean Williams of Yahoo Sports). “The back deal is more than anything just soreness. It’s probably just more preventative than anything. I’m not really concerned right now.”

This comes as a welcome development for Chicago who look to build on their current win streak, following two consecutive wins against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Carolina Panthers in Week 5 and Week 6, respectively. The Chicago Bears currently stand at an astounding 5-1 record.

This back issue appears to be a new one for Mack, who has also been dealing with a knee problem. The knee injury has forced the former AP Defensive Player of the Year to miss a number of practices throughout season.

It is also worth noting that defensive tackle Akiem Hicks also missed Friday's practice for the Bears due to an illness. The team confirmed, however, that it was not COVID-19. Nonetheless, it remains to be seen if Hicks will be able to take the field against Los Angeles.
