A lot of young basketball players around the world look up to established NBA players and use them as a source of inspiration in hopes of playing against or alongside them someday. One of those young players included the 10th overall pick of the 2017 NBA Draft, Dennis Smith Jr. of the Dallas Mavericks.

The Mavericks point guard recently took to Twitter to share a photo of him at a young age with LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers. He also placed in his caption that he still can't believe he is now in the league and will be competing with him soon.

After playing for Trinity Christian School in Fayetteville, North Carolina, Smith committed to NC State, where he had a short but stellar stint. With his averages of 18.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, 6.2 assists, and 1.9 steals per game, he became one of the highly-touted prospects heading into the draft and resulted in his top-10 selection by the Mavs.

Smith's post only shows that he also grew up watching James and is not shy to let everyone know that is also a fan just like a lot of people. Despite the success he had during his days at NC State, and his impressive showing in the NBA Summer League, he remains humble and in awe of a superstar like James.
