Former Villanova Wildcat guard Maalik Wayns is the Dallas Mavericks' newest addition to the roster. The team announced the move on Wednesday and was reported also by Dallas beat writer Earl K. Sneed on Twitter.

While specific details of the contract are currently hard to come by, Wayns' arrival to the Mavericks' fold appears to further congest the guard position on the team.

However, it's not likely that Wayns would be part of the team's final roster for the regular season with J.J. Barea, Seth Curry, Yogi Ferrell, and highly-touted rookie Dennis Smith Jr., all situated ahead of Wayns in the pecking order.

It still is a bit of good news for Wayns, who was last seen on an NBA game in 2014, playing two games for the L.A. Clippers. Wayns, who went undrafted in the 2012 NBA Draft, has 29 NBA games split between the Clippers and the Philadelphia 76ers under his belt with career averages of 2.7 points and 1.0 assists per contest.

While out of the NBA radar last year, Wayns took his talents to Israel, where he played for Maccabi Rishon, putting up 15.1 points, 4.1 assists, and 3.4 boards per game for the club.
