The Dallas Mavericks will officially parade their promising duo of Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis next season. While there is a strong sense of optimism in Dallas, Doncic admitted that they need more help in order to become a serious contender next season.

Doncic is coming off a strong first season in the league, which was enough for him to win the 2019 Rookie of the Year award. Porzingis, on the other hand, will be entering his fourth season in the league after missing the entire 2018-19 campaign due to an ACL tear.

Doncic conceded that they are still young and still need help to succeed.

“Me and KP, we’re young, so I think we need some help, players that can help us,” Doncic said, via Dwain Price of Mavs.com. “But if we get or don’t get, we’re going to try to get to the playoffs any way.”

Former NBA superstar Shaquille O'Neal also said that the Mavs need at least two more pieces. Shaq believes that the current roster will be enough to win games and make the playoffs, but they need more to contend with teams like the Golden State Warriors, Houston Rockets and Los Angeles Lakers.

Dallas is expected to become one of the most aggressive teams in free agency, knowing that the Western Conference is wide open because of the injuries that hit the Golden State Warriors. The Mavs are tagged as one of the strong contenders to sign Charlotte Hornets point guard Kemba Walker this offseason.
