After agreeing to his designated rookie max extension worth $207 million for five years with the Dallas Mavericks, Luka Doncic is already preparing to give back to the community.

In a statement shared to ESPN, Doncic expressed his excitement to remain in Dallas with the Mavs long-term. He called the signing a “dream come true” before showing his appreciation for the game of basketball.

Additionally, Doncic announced his plan to expand the work of his foundation in an effort to help Slovenia, North Texas and all other places close to him.

“I am committed to the organization and appreciate the support of my fans. Along with this new contract, I am also happy to announce that I am increasing my efforts and focusing on expanding The Luka Dončić Foundation. My foundation is an international non-profit that will give back to places that mean so much to me like my home country of Slovenia, as well as the communities in North Texas,” the Mavs playmaker said.

“I'm happy to share in partnership with 2K Foundations we are unveiling two basketball courts here in Slovenia soon. We are refurbishing my childhood courts where I learned and practiced the game. The opportunity for kids to play on the same courts and pursue the same dreams I had is something I'm excited about.”

Luka Doncic is the first player eligible to sign the designated rookie max extension because of what he has already achieved in his first three years in the league. Aside from being a two-time All-Star, he has also been part of two All-NBA First Teams.

The Mavs' extension of Doncic is expected but certainly good news for the franchise. After all, it means they have one of the best players in the NBA locked up for years, giving them an opportunity to create a championship contender around him.
