Minnesota Timberwolves head coach Ryan Saunders believes that the future is bright for Dallas Mavericks rookie sensation Luka Doncic.

Saunders, who is coaching in his first season in the NBA, said that the Mavs star is showing impressive confidence for a rookie, who just turned 20 a month ago. The young head coach is convinced that there are big things ahead for Doncic because of the confidence that he is showing in his rookie season.

“I think he has a supreme level of confidence,” Saunders said via Callie Caplan of Dallas Morning News. “To have that level of faith in yourself, this early in your career, there’s big things ahead for him.”

Luka Doncic, who was selected third overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, was touted by many as the next big thing in the league when he took the European basketball circuit by storm at a young age. He immediately made an impact for the Mavs once he started playing, which made him a strong favorite to win the Rookie of the Year award this season.

The Slovenian forward is averaging 21.1 points to go along with 7.6 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game this season. He recently tied Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson with the third-most triple double for a rookie after tallying his seventh on last week. He tallied 28 points, 12 rebounds, and 12 assists against the Sacramento Kings.
