The New York Mets continue to be amazin' this season. Their most recent win over the Philadelphia Phillies featured a ninth-inning rally to take the lead after being down 7-1. With just a 0.1 percent chance to win it, the Mets did just that.

New York hit around in the top of the ninth inning, recording eight hits and seven runs, starting with a two-run homer from Francisco Lindor. Starling Marte, who kicked off the rally with a single, drove in the lead-securing run with a double. Edwin Diaz got all three batters he faced out to seal the deal. The Mets' last win like this came all the way back in 1997.

Mets manager Buck Showalter said that he was so invested and cheerful as the team rallied that he could have brought pom poms out, according to Deesha Thoosar of the New York Daily News.

“I was involved in too many other things to start cheerleading, but I sure felt like it,” Showalter said of his emotions during the team’s rally. “I could have. If it were me, I’d have some pom poms out. But I can’t, there’s too many things going on.”

The Mets have already had some impressive wins this season. They recorded the first no-hitter of the season, which also came against the Phillies, and put together a ninth-inning comeback against the St. Louis Cardinals. Still, this one is not only the best of the season but arguably the best regular-season victory in a very long time.

At an NL East-leading 19-9, the Mets are riding high and establishing themselves as a great squad.
