The sports world has seen its fair share of weird injury causes. From groin injuries due to shaving accidents to other absurdities, it's not uncommon to see someone be injured due to non-sports reasons. However, New York Mets star Francisco Lindor suffered a rather bizarre injury that will have fans laughing and crying at the same time.

A recent report revealed that Francisco Lindor has been taken off the active roster due to a finger injury. The reason for the injury… is Lindor accidentally slamming his finger on a hotel room door. That's an unfortunate injury for the Mets, but a hilarious story for other fans. (via SNYMets)

The Mets are one of the hottest teams in the MLB today. Despite injuries to their pitching staff, the team has remained on top of the league so far. Part of that reason is their bats coming alive at the right time. Lindor has led an excellent offense that keeps this team competitive in the face of adversity.

The good news for Mets fans is that one of their stars could be set to return soon. Ace pitcher Jacob deGrom, who has missed the entirety of the season, is slated for a comeback soon. His return should be able to soften the blow of these injuries to Lindor and other core members of the squad.

As for Lindor, the Mets star could miss a few weeks or so due to this injury. There doesn't seem to be any structural damage to his finger, so that's a relief at least.
