Police arrested four people on Friday after finding a stockpile of guns and ammunition in a hotel room near Coors Field, and there was concern that there was going to be a “Las Vegas style shooting” during the 2021 MLB All-Star Game festivities this upcoming week.

However, the FBI released a statement Sunday claiming they have “no reason to believe” the suspects were a threat to the All-Star festivities.

But there was no reason to believe the suspects posed a threat to the All-Star Game or were connected to terrorism, said Courtney Bernal, acting public affairs specialist with the Denver FBI office.

“We are not aware of any threat to the All-Star Game events, venues, players, or the community at this time,” she said in a statement.

The suspects were allegedly planning to check out on Sunday ahead of the All-Star events:

A maid initially noticed the weapons cache in an eighth-floor hotel room at The Maven Hotel and alerted police. Given the vantage point from the room's balcony overlooking large crowds during MLB All-Star events, there was some belief of a possible mass shooting.

The four people (three men, one woman) arrested are all in their 40s:

Those arrested were Richard Platt, 42; Gabriel Rodriguez, 48; Ricardo Rodriguez, 44; and Kanoelehua Serikawa, 43. Police did not provide places of residence for the four, who are being held and investigated for alleged illegal possession of weapons and possession of controlled substances.

The three men arrested have lengthy criminal histories in Colorado. One of the suspects allegedly wrote on Facebook that he was ready to “go out in a big way” after a recent divorce.

Luckily, it looks like the MLB All-Star Game is safe.
