Police arrested four people after a tip from a maid at a hotel near Coors Field in Denver led to the discovery of a weapons cache and over 1,000 rounds of ammunition. Police feared a “Las Vegas style shooting” during the MLB All-Star Game, according to TheDenverChannel.com.

Police reportedly found 16 long guns, the ammunition and body armor from a room on the eighth floor of The Maven Hotel. There was also a man inside the room when the search warrant was executed. The room features a balcony overlooking the downtown area, so police were concerned about a mass shooting given the setup and the large crowds in town for the MLB All-Star Game, similar to what happened in Las Vegas four years ago.

In 2017, a man at the Mandalay Bay Hotel opened fire on the crowd at the Route 91 Harvest music festival. The gunman killed 60 people (two died in later years from injury complications) and wounded 411 before killing himself. The total injury total was 867 people.

Three men and one woman were arrested on Friday night in Denver. All of them are in their 40s, and one of the suspects arrested reportedly posted a message on Facebook saying he was going to “go out in a big way” after a recent divorce.

Two vehicles were also impounded in conjunction with the arrests as police continue an active investigation.

The 2021 MLB All-Star Game is scheduled to take place at Coors Field on Tuesday night. The Home Run Derby will be on Monday night.
