Former All-Star Yasiel Puig has settled a sexual assault case stemming from an incident in 2018 at a Lakers game. The former Dodgers slugger released a statement on the matter and made it clear that he's looking to make an MLB return in 2022:

Puig hasn't been in the big leagues since 2019 with the Cleveland Indians. Most recently, the Cuban is playing for El Aguila de Veracruz in the Mexican Baseball League. During the 2021 season, Yasiel Puig hit .310 with 10 homers in 247 plate appearances.

As for the case, Puig was sued for sexual battery and assault after an encounter with a woman in 2018 at an NBA contest. He reportedly tried taking her clothes off in a bathroom at the Staples Center and proceeded to touch her sexual organs.

Puig never denied having a sexual encounter with the women but did express a desire to take the case to trial. However, that wouldn't have happened until 2022. That being said, Yasiel Puig paid her off instead.

In his prime, the 30-year-old was one of the most electric players in the MLB. It remains to be seen if he can get back to that form, but Puig is a lifetime .277 hitter. It will be interesting to see if another organization will take a chance on the hot-headed Puig.
