Following the postponing of Wednesday's game between the Utah Jazz and the Oklahoma City Thunder and subsequent suspension of the NBA season, the Utah Jazz released a statement per Howard Beck of Bleacher Report. The reason for the statement obviously being the big news that Jazz center Rudy Gobert had tested positive for the coronavirus after feeling ill earlier in the day.

In the statement, the Jazz state that Gobert had tested negative for the flu, strep throat and an upper respiratory infection. The French Big man's symptoms reportedly diminished before Wednesday's tip-off but not before Gobert was tested for COVID-19.

Alongside Gobert's positive test for the coronavirus, a video of the two-time Defensive Player of the Year jokingly touching all the microphones of reporters in the arena's media room on Wednesday emerged on social media.

After the game was postponed, the fans in attendance were asked to leave Chesapeake Energy Arena while the players on both teams have been quarantined in their respective locker rooms.

Due to the hysteria and for safety measures, the NBA has suspended the season starting tomorrow but no word has been posted about how long the suspension will last. However, the league has stated that they will use the time to figure out their next steps in regard to the pandemic.

Per the New York Times, there have been 1,240 reported cases of the virus in the U.S. across 42 states with at least 37 deaths. Worldwide, that number has climbed to over 125,000 cases and over 4,600 deaths.
