Following the completion of another week of the regular season, the NBA on Monday afternoon announced the Player of Week honorees.

For this past week, Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns earned the recognition on behalf of the Western Conference while Toronto Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan received the honor for the Eastern Conference.

Towns is coming off a highly productive week where he averaged 20.3 points on 55.4 percent shooting from the field and 56.2 percent from 3-point range (9-of-16) with 12.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists while helping lead Minnesota to a 3-1 record. This includes posting three double-doubled with two 20-point outings in the process.

This further underlines what has been another highly productive campaign from Towns, who is averaging 20.8 points with 11.4 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game. If he continues on this pace, it should lead to his first All-Star Game nod and further recognition as one of the league's best players.

DeRozan played a huge part in the Raptors sweeping through last week with a perfect 4-0 record that began with topping the Houston Rockets. The 28-year-old poured in at least 22 points in each outing that was highlighted by a 33-point outing in Sunday's home win over the Washington Wizards.

This has pushed his averages up to 25.2 points with a career-high 4.6 assists and 4.4 rebounds per game. DeRozan has become one of the premier scorers in the league over the last few seasons as he's on pace to finish with his fifth straight campaign averaging more 20 points per game.
