The 2021-22 season hasn't exactly gone as planned for the Los Angeles Lakers. But even as his team's expectations of an 18th Larry O'Brien Trophy continue fading, LeBron James remains arguably the most popular player in basketball.

The league on Friday released its list of best-selling jerseys at NBAStore.com, with a very familiar name topping the rankings.

James is also the leading fan vote-getter for the upcoming NBA All-Star Game in Cleveland. He's garnered over 6.8 million tallies so far, about 800,000 more than Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry—who happens to be second to his longtime rival in jersey sales, too.

The rest of the top-15 isn't surprising, either. Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kevin Durant, Luka Doncic round out the top-five. Memphis Grizzlies budding superstar Ja Morant is seventh, while Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson comes in at No. 9 after two full seasons lost due to injury. LaMelo Ball of the Charlotte Hornets and R.J. Barrett round out the rankings, the only two second-year players on the list.

James, 37, is averaging 28.8 points, 7.6 rebounds, 6.4 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.1 blocks per game this season, with a 61.6 true shooting percentage—his best since 2017-18. His stellar individual play hasn't translated to team success, though. The Lakers are 22-23 this season, beset by Anthony Davis' knee injury, an utter lack of quality depth and recent spate of COVID-19 absences.

The offseason addition of Russell Westbrook has gone as poorly as many outside the team anticipated, too. His benching in the fourth quarter of LA's dispiriting loss to the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday came with coach Frank Vogel in the hot seat. Though Vogel reportedly had the front office's support in his decision to sit Westbrook, his job remains in jeopardy.

Los Angeles begins a six-game road trip on Friday by visiting the Orlando Magic.
