The Detroit Pistons will play the Indiana Pacers on Thursday in an Eastern Conference matchup. It's time to continue our NBA odds series with a Pistons-Pacers prediction and pick.

The Pistons and Pacers will meet on Thursday as each team will look to stop a losing streak. Detroit has now lost 12 games in a row, while the Pacers have lost just two straight. The Pistons are a league-worst 4-22 this season, and remain without key players for this matchup with Indiana. The Pacers also have struggled to hit their stride this season despite solid play from Domantas Sabonis, Malcolm Brogdon and Myles Turner. Detroit remains without Jerami Grant, Kelly Olynyk and others as they navigate what has been a brutal season to this point. The Pacers to no surprise come into this matchup as big favorites over the Pistons.

Here is how FanDuel has set the Pistons-Pacers odds for this Thursday NBA matchup.

Why The Pistons Could Cover The Spread

The Pistons have lost five out of their last six games by double digits. Taking the points, even this many, hasn't been a very good strategy when it comes to Detroit of late. The Pacers should probably be favored by even more, as they are a bit better than their 12-18 record suggests by the numbers. Indiana has a positive point differential despite being six games under .500 30 games into the season. Detroit will likely struggle to keep up with a Pacers group that is just a bit better in every area right now. The Pistons will be at a disadvantage inside vs. Sabonis and Turner, as well as on the perimeter vs. Brogdon. Detroit is 2-11 on the road this season and 12-14 vs. the spread overall. The Pistons have been off since Sunday due to their last game being postponed. They were scheduled to play the Chicago Bulls, who are battling a COVID outbreak within the team.

Why The Pacers Could Cover The Spread

Indiana comes into this spot as the clear better team and motivated to avoid a three-game losing streak. The losses are beginning to pile up this season for the Pacers so they will likely have a heightened sense of urgency to get a win as big favorites at home vs. a Pistons team that has not won since November. Indiana is 4-6 in their last ten games but has faced some tough competition of late. Their last two losses were to the Golden State Warriors and the Milwaukee Bucks. The Pacers will be on a rest disadvantage in this one, however. Detroit has not played since Sunday due to their game with the Chicago Bulls being postponed. Indiana on the other hand is on back-to-back after losing to the Bucks in Milwaukee on Wednesday. This could be a factor if the Pistons are able to hang around into the second half.

Final Pistons-Pacers Prediction & Pick

This is a tough one. The Pacers are much better, but they played last night while the Pistons have been off for three days. Detroit is so bad the off days probably won't matter in terms of who gets the win, but covering the spread may be difficult for Indiana on the second night of the back-to-back. Take the Pistons to cover the double-digit spread, but the Pacers to take home the win.

Final Pistons-Pacers prediction & pick: Pistons +10.5 (-110)
