The Atlanta Hawks are unlikely to get a deal done for Detroit Pistons big man Andre Drummond, according to Sam Amick of The Athletic. The Hawks have been looking to get star Trae Young some help by the trade deadline, with Drummond being one of the biggest names in the shortlist of candidates.

According to Amick, the Hawks could have had Andre Drummond at this point if they were willing to attach a first-round pick to their compensation package. Other teams like the Boston Celtics and the Dallas Mavericks are looking for a center as well and could be serious players as the Feb. 6 deadline approaches.

Drummond leads the league in rebounding with 16 boards per game, and he's been a fortress of cleaning the glass for the past few years since breaking into the league, winning three rebounding titles in the past four years, and finishing second in 2016-17.

He looks well on his way to hanging another accolade this season, as one of the best ball-snatching bigs in the league. The Pistons have already conceded they won't be able to keep their big man in the offseason and feel confident they will be able to trade him by the deadline, which is now less than a month away.

The Hawks envisioned pairing Drummond with John Collins, who has ventured to the 3-point line more and looked to add some versatility to his game. The New York native would also pair well as a lob-catching machine, giving Young a pick-and-roll partner and someone that can clean up the glass in misses.

So far, unless the Hawks get serious about adding a first-rounder to the deal, it looks like they will be out of the Andre Drummond sweepstakes unless they can offer him a big number in free agency.
