The Miami Heat are already gaining significant momentum as of late, having won nine of their last 10 games. However, they are still setting their sights on adding another veteran reinforcement in big man LaMarcus Aldridge to sustain their success in a bid to make a strong postseason run.

Via Hoops Hype:

“Miami has also dangled veterans Avery Bradley, Maurice Harkless and Meyers Leonard to match salaries as part of a trade package for San Antonio’s LaMarcus Aldridge, league sources told HoopsHype. The Heat would also have to add another minimum contract such as either Chris Silva or KZ Okpala and draft pick compensation to make a trade worthwhile for San Antonio.”

Aldridge previously parted ways with the San Antonio Spurs in a mutual agreement although his rights still belong to the team. He concluded five and a half seasons under Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich where he emerged as one of the team's core players.

With the recent emergence of the Spurs' young studs, Aldridge eventually lost his touches this season. He only averaged 13.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks through 21 games played in their 2020-21 campaign. His numbers weren't as good compared to previous years but he still played a major role in the Spurs' offense.

Aldridge is currently earning a $24.5 million salary this season and the Heat would have to give up their other veteran players along with additional assets in exchange for his services. However, Pat Riley and company aren't the only ones involved in the sweepstakes as many teams are expected to pursue the seven-time All-Star.

Aside from Aldridge, the Miami-based squad is also rumored to go after another sought-after player in Toronto Raptors guard Kyle Lowry, per Hoops Hype. With a 20-18 record for the fourth spot in the East, the Heat are expected to make significant roster moves ahead of the trade deadline in order to bolster their lineup for the second half of the season.
