The Saint Peter's Peacocks are setting the 2022 NCAA Tournament on fire. Whether they advance in the Sweet 16 or not, they left their mark on March Madness with two huge wins against Kentucky and Murray State. Their shocking success is commanding everyone's attention. One such onlooker is New York Giants legend Eli Manning.
The two-time Super Bowl MVP expressed his support for Saint Peter's on Twitter. Although Manning attended Ole Miss and grew up in New Orleans, he has spent time living in Hoboken, NJ, which is very close to the Peacocks' campus. The Giants' home stadium is also in East Rutherford, NJ.
Because of his longtime New Jersey residency, Manning has an understandable link to this year's Cinderella squad and is letting it show. The Peacocks are showing appreciation for his shoutout.
The Peacocks are reveling in their success. Head coach Shaheen Holloway boasted about his team's confidence while high-scoring guard Doug Eddert landed a NIL deal with Buffalo Wild Wings. Their confidence is well-deserved, as they entered the tournament as a 15th seed. They are also the first team from their conference, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, to appear in the men's Sweet 16.
Saint Peter's is back in action on Friday night against the third-seeded Purdue Boilermakers, who boast fiery guard Jaden Ivey and 7-foot-4 big man Zach Edey. After taking down one of the nation's best teams to begin the tournament, the Peacocks can do it again after getting a few days to rest.
