Just moments after the Saint Peter's Peacocks' Cinderella run ended in the Elite Eight after a loss to North Carolina, news broke that head coach Shaheen Holloway would be leaving the program to take the head coaching position at his alma mater, Seton Hall.

Holloway had been the head coach at Saint Peter's since 2018 when he made the jump from assistant coach to head coach. He was previously at Seton Hall from 2010 to 2018 as an assistant coach. Holloway played at Seton Hall from 1996 to 2000, where he would then go onto summer camps in the NBA as an undrafted free agent. Ultimately he would be drafted in the seventh round of the 2000 USL Draft by the Long Island Surf. He played on both the domestic and international circuit, having played for teams in the United States, Dominican Republic, Germany, Israel, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and Venezuela.

Shaheen Holloway departs Saint Peter's just moments after a true Cinderella run ended in unceremonious fashion at the hands of the North Carolina Tar Heels. Their story began in the first round of the 2022 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament when they knocked off second-seeded Kentucky. They would go on to beat seventh-seeded Murray State to punch their ticket to the Sweet 16 and then overcome a 12.5 point underdog matchup to beat the Purdue Boilermakers to head to the Elite Eight.

The 2022 Saint Peter's Peacocks may have a new head coach, but will forever be known for being the first 15-seed to make it to the Elite Eight, and capturing the hearts of basketball fans nationwide.
