Blake Griffin's much-awaited debut for the Brooklyn Nets is on the horizon. However, Nets fans will need to wait a bit longer before they see the six-time All-Star take the floor for his new team as Griffin continues to deal with conditioning issues.

According to Nets head coach Steve Nash, Griffin won't be returning to action anytime soon (h/t Malika Andrews of ESPN):

Nash was unsurprisingly vague with Griffin's timetable, and the fact that he ended by saying that the Nets are “in no rush” to bring him back means that Griffin will likely remain on the shelf for a considerable amount of time.

The last we saw Griffin in action (with the Detroit Pistons) was back on February 12. It's been over a month since he's taken the floor, and at 31, the former Rookie of the Year will need some extra time to get his conditioning right now that he's with a new team. He's also going to be rusty once he returns and will likely be on some sort of minutes limit in his first few games.

While Griffin undeniably brings in a ton of star power to Brooklyn, his impact on the court is not expected to be overly significant. He's going to be more of a role player for the Nets, playing behind the team's other three superstars. Nevertheless, despite the fact that Griffin is already a shadow of his former self, there's no denying that his arrival further boosts Brooklyn's title chances this season.
