Brooklyn Nets shooting guard Joe Harris says he wants to play with All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving again.

For that to happen, Harris will have to re-sign with the Nets this summer in free agency, as Brooklyn announced on Thursday that Irving is done for the season due to his shoulder injury.

When asked if he hopes to keep playing with Irving and the Nets, Harris didn’t hesitate.

“Yeah, definitely, why wouldn’t you,” Harris said. “Obviously those are guys I’ve gotten close with. This is what we got. This is what we have to make the most of.”

Harris, one of the best shooters in the NBA, has appeared in 52 games for the Nets this season. He’s averaging 13.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists while shooting 46.8 percent from the field, 40.8 percent from beyond the arc and 74.3 percent from the free-throw line.

Harris is making $7.6 million this season after signing a two-year, $16 million deal with the Nets back in the summer of 2018.

If you can shoot the ball and play defense in today’s NBA, you are going to get paid. Harris is one of the top young shooters in the league and has gotten better on the defensive side of the ball.

As a result, the Nets might have to overpay to keep Harris in Brooklyn since the sharpshooter figures to be pursued by a bevy of teams on the open market.

Irving finished his first season with the Nets averaging 27.4 points, 5.2 rebounds and 6.4 assists.
