The COVID pandemic has eased up significantly over the past few months and at this point, it is clear that we are all moving towards the new normal. However, this does not mean that the coronavirus has miraculously disappeared. As a matter of fact, Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets could now be facing a major COVID headache amid their push for the playoffs.

Nets head coach Steve Nash revealed on Saturday right before their key matchup against the Atlanta Hawks that Goran Dragic has shown symptoms of the coronavirus and that the veteran guard has been placed on the league's health and safety protocols. Nash did not provide too many details on Dragic's current conditions, saying that the 35-year-old “doesn’t feel well. But that’s all I know” (h/t Charles Odum of Texas Sports Nation).

Dragic, who signed with the Nets as a free agent in February, has averaged 7.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 4.8 assists in 25.5 minutes off the Brooklyn bench.

Incidentally, Bruce Brown was also unavailable for Wednesday's clash against the Hawks. According to Nash, Brown has the flu. It doesn't sound like Brown has been placed on the NBA's health and safety protocols but it would not be a complete shock given the Dragic situation.

Coach Nash was a bit more optimistic about Brown, though, saying that the team hopes to get him back sooner rather than later:

“I think some of these things are 24 hours to 72 hours,” Nash said of Brown's illness. “Hopefully, we’re in that timeframe and he can play on Tuesday.”

At this point, Brooklyn is hoping that Brown's illness is unrelated to that of Dragic and that it's nothing more than the common flu for the former.

The last thing the Nets need right now is for any more of their players to exhibit any COVID symptoms as they fight for positioning in the last stretch of the regular season. After Saturday's matchup against Trae Young and the Haws, Brooklyn will have just four more games remaining. They are currently at seventh in the East and are set to go through the Play-In game before potentially booking their spot in the playoffs.
