Sunday's preseason game against the Washington Wizards marked Kevin Durant's first NBA game in over a year and half. After the outing, the Brooklyn Nets star admitted he had the jitters, but he tagged the experience as a “good step.”

To recall, Durant suffered an  Achilles tendon injury in Game 5 of the 2019 NBA Finals. It sidelined him for the rest of the series plus the entire 2019-20 season. During his rehab period, the pandemic struck, which KD admitted clouded his future.

With that said, getting back on the court gave Durant a bag of mixed feelings.

“I was anxious, nervous,” the Nets star said, per Malika Andrews of ESPN. “I visualized this moment for so long. Nine, 10 months of thinking about how it would be — this next phase of my career. I felt like I was chomping at the bit. Especially once COVID hit because I didn't see a future — when the season was going to start in the future. I was going through it.

“So, to go through this felt solid.”

While it was just a preseason game with no bearing for the Nets, Kevin Durant saw it as a chance to get his rhythm back.

“I definitely am feeling it right now,” KD  said and laughed. “It's good to get back in the flow of things, and it definitely gives me some confidence. … It's a good step, and I am trying to build on it.”

Against the Wizards, Durant finished with 15 points, three rebounds, three assists and two blocks in 24 minutes. He shot 5-of-12 from and also opened the game with a dunk for the Nets.
