Over 17 months since he signed with the Brooklyn Nets, Kevin Durant scored his bucket for the team in their preseason game against the Washington Wizards.

The first two points of likely many more for Durant was particularly noteworthy, as KD displayed the type of explosiveness many feared he would lack following a rupture of his Achilles tendon.

Check out the start of the comeback for yourself:

Getting the ball off a pass from point guard Spencer Dinwiddie, Kevin Durant came hard off the wing as he drove to the basket. Blowing by center Thomas Bryant, the former MVP showed no hesitation as he aggressively lifted off to slam the ball home.

While the past several days have been filled with controversy for the Nets–due to Kyrie Irving's refusal to talk to the media and subsequent social media posts–the performance by Durant (and the chatter that it is sure to generate) will likely be welcomed as a return to basketball-related topics for the New York organization.

Though the match is only the team's first of the preseason, the fact that Durant looks to be an approximation of his former self should further elate a Nets team that currently holds the third best odds to win the NBA title in the upcoming season.
