The Brooklyn Nets easily overcame the Chicago Bulls on Friday, thanks to superstar point guard Kyrie Irving who put on a fantastic show and dropped 54 points.

Obviously inspired by the late Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, Irving honored Kobe and highlighted his desire to keep the “Mamba Mentality alive.

YES Network asked the Nets superstar about his thoughts after the game, and he revealed that he's just happy to be back playing the game he loves.

“I'm just happy to be back playing the game that I love most. Being around the most beautiful sound, just hearing these fans out here… having my family here makes it all worth it. The decision to come back home is well worth it. I'm cemented; I'm here; I'm grounded; I'm rooted,” Kyrie explained.

He also noted that his Nets teammates and the Mamba Mentality helped him put on a brilliant scoring performance.

“I'm happy for my teammates, as well. They did a great job of just giving me confidence. I hit a few shots in the first half so I had to keep going, and Kobe mentality and Mamba mentality, keep going, keep going.”

Kyrie Irving was indeed bitten by the Mamba Mentality with his incredible performance. Aside from his 54-point outing, he also had five rebounds, five assists and a steal to seal the game.

Spencer Dinwiddie also channeled the Black Mamba with his 20 points from the bench, while the rest of the Nets roster played like a well-oiled machine.

Overall, it was a great night for Irving, and fans can expect more of these performances as he aspires to live and play like his mentor.
