The Brooklyn Nets are currently in negotiations with Kyrie Irving with the hopes to keep him on the roster for at least one more season. It's a move the front office must make, as the final decision possibly hinders Kevin Durant's future with the club. However, everything hangs in the balance of Irving's choice to remain in Brooklyn or not with free agency right around the corner.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Kevin Durant typically talks with free agents about potentially signing with his team at this point in the offseason. However, it sounds like he and the Nets are awaiting for Irving to make up his mind. “In previous offseasons, rival agents and players would tell you of Durant's eagerness in talking to potential free agents. So far, that hasn't been the case with him.”

It's an interesting situation right now. Brooklyn is a favorable destination for free agents with both Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant on the roster. Even so, the front office and Durant seem to be waiting for Irving's decision before making any moves, per Adrian Wojnarowski. “Around the Irving drama, the Nets' environment has made it harder to keep and court role players.”

A prime example, according to Wojnarowski, is Patty Mills' hesitancy, “who still hasn't decided whether to exercise his $7.2 million player option.” For that reason, everything hangs in the balance for Kyrie Irving to either re-sign with Brooklyn or walk. If he signs a deal with the Nets, then the franchise is in a great spot for next season. However, if he opts out and enters free agency, Brooklyn could be in a whirlwind of trouble.

Keep an eye on Irving and the Nets, as his decision should come to fruition in the coming weeks.
