Kyrie Irving recently returned to the Brooklyn Nets as a part-time participant as they've allowed him to play in road games. It quickly came to a halt though as Kyrie instantly tested positive for COVID-19 upon his arrival.

To be honest, the Nets really had no choice but to give the star guard a chance to be a part of the squad again, given how depleted their rotation has been. However, while he remains unvaccinated, which is certainly a huge risk to other players, Irving apparently has no plans on ever getting the jab.

Via The Rolling Stone:

As Irving continues to test his way back toward Brooklyn Nets HQ this week, “it’s been pretty intense with safety protocols,” a team staffer who will be on the court with him tells RS. Irving is putting himself at risk, after all, and none of the dozen-plus sources contacted for this story indicated that Irving has any plans to get vaccinated, ever. The Nets did not immediately respond to a detailed list of questions, and Irving’s managers did not respond to multiple voicemails this week. The office of the mayor-elect Eric Adams maintains that the city’s new leader does not expect to reverse the law against home-team vaccine deniers.

Not surprising. Irving seems willing to run the risk of getting the virus and sure enough, he literally got it right away. Although the Nets are playing great basketball, they would undoubtedly benefit from having Kyrie in the mix again, vaccinated or not.

With the Omicron variant rearing its ugly head, things are getting even scarier in the entire world with COVID-19. But Brooklyn is willing to risk having an unvaccinated player participate anyway. Good decision? I guess we'll see.
