Kyrie Irving of the Brooklyn Nets has entered the league's covid-19 health and safety protocols. He entered the protocols less than an hour after teammate Kevin Durant joined.

He has not played a game yet this season but was set to return for Brooklyn sometime in the next few weeks, but only for the team's away games.

This just seems like a bad nightmare for the Nets. Kyrie was finally set to return after a long fiasco of him not playing due to not being vaccinated. Although the front office decided to change their mind and put winning over what they initially believed, this move had to be done because the Nets had little to no depth and nobody remaining to play.

The Nets will now be without James Harden, Kevin Durant, and Kyrie. They have not played with Kyrie all season long so missing him isn't necessarily a huge one for this team, but he would have been a nice addition with everybody who is out. When Kyrie is on the court, he is one of the better players and all basketball and that's exactly what he's going to look to do when he returns to the Nets.

In order for him to return, he needs five consecutive days of negative test to join the team at practice. He is the ninth Brooklyn player to enter into the protocols.
