The Brooklyn Nets have been throttled lately with COVID cases. Initially All-Star point guard James Harden and Bruce Brown were placed into the league's COVID health and safety protocols.

The team was running short on healthy bodies and there was concern they would not be able to put a full team on the court. That prompted the organization to announce they would be willing to let Kyrie Irving join them for road games. This was in direct contradiction from the team's stance earlier this season.

Kyrie Irving has been very vocal speaking out as anti-vaccine. A state law in New York was previously passed that in order for anyone to be in an arena with over 10,000 people, you need to show proof of vaccination. That eliminated him from home games. The team then took the stance to keep him off the roster for road games as well.

They have changed their tune. They surprised the basketball world when they announced they would be willing to let Kyrie Irving join the team.

Irving then almost immediately went into the league's COVID health and safety protocols, to no ones surprise. He was joined by All-Star forward Kevin Durant on the list.

Speaking to the media Friday, Brooklyn head coach Steve Nash addressed whether or not Irving would join the team on the upcoming road trip.

According to Nets beat writer, Dave Early, he will not be traveling.

Neither Nets player will take the trip on Christmas Day for the game against the Los Angeles Lakers. In total, James Harden, LaMarcus Aldridge, DeAndre’ Bembry, Bruce Brown, Jevon Carter, Paul Millsap, James Johnson, Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant and rookie Day’Ron Sharpe have all been out on the COVID list.
