LeBron James grabbed headlines on Saturday when he made a surprise appearance in the Drew League. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar wasn't just a spectator too, as LeBron suited up to play in the high-profile exhibition game. Apparently, another NBA star that was supposed to make his presence known in the Drew League was none other than LeBron's ex-teammate in Kyrie Irving.

For some reason, however, the Brooklyn Nets point guard ended up missing his game, which was scheduled a couple of hours before LeBron's appearance. As it turns out, Irving was busy doing something else, which may have been the cause of his Drew League absence.

Incidentally, Kyrie was spotted in Phil Handy's basketball camp earlier in the day. For those who may not be familiar with Handy, he's actually an assistant coach with the Lakers. Here are a couple of clips of Irving helping out in Handy's camp courtesy of ClutchPoints on Twitter:

The conspiracy theorists are going to have a field day with this, of course. Kyrie Irving doing a favor for a Lakers assistant coach is indeed noteworthy news. The enigmatic All-Star has been linked to a move to LA for weeks now, and this only further fuels these rumors.

Then again, this could also be the case of Kyrie just helping out a friend. These two worked together during their time with the Cleveland Cavaliers where Handy was an assistant coach between 2013 and 2018. Irving and Handy go way back and this could merely be an innocent coincidence.
