Thanks to rookie quarterback Daniel Jones, the New York Giants are officially in the win column in 2019-20. After a 0-2 start under the direction of veteran quarterback Eli Manning, the Giants notably turned to the aforementioned Jones, who led New York to victory on the road against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday afternoon.

Despite making just his first career NFL start in Week 3 against the Buccaneers, Jones already appears to have this quarterback thing figured out—well, at least according to one NFL coach. Now a famous debut for Jones, the rookie signal-caller managed to lead his team to a win with his legs by scoring a game-winning rushing touchdown to edge the Buccaneers, 32-31.

“It’s man coverage, but not 2-man where it’s an obvious read and the quarterback can run,” a NFL coach told Mike Sando. “It is red zone man and Tampa Bay busts so they don’t have their free low hole player to make the tackle. Tampa had four guys to cover three, Jones saw it and just ran right into the end zone — beautiful play, veteran play.”

“I wasn’t a fan of his coming out (of college), but the kid looked like the real deal in preseason,” a quarterbacks coach said Sunday night. “He was very accurate and more sudden. He didn’t miss throws. That’s what it’s all about. If you are accurate, that takes care of a lot of problems.”

After losing to both the Dallas Cowboys and Buffalo Bills in Weeks 1 and 2, respectively, Jones and the Giants will now take on the rival Washington Redskins come Week 4.
