Quarterback prospect Lamar Jackson grabbed headlines for the wrong reasons after his pro day. Reports emerged about teams struggling to book him for meetings and workouts, in part due to his lack of an agent. Those pre-draft meetups are important for any prospect, especially one that wants to go as early as possible.

But despite those reports, it seems that they have done little to negatively impact Jackson’s draft stock, which continues to trend upward according to Jordan Schultz of Yahoo Sports. Schultz sees Jackson going in the first round at the very least and could even make his way to the middle of the first round.

Lots of talk and confusion around Lamar Jackson. My understanding however, in regards to his draft stock, is that it continues to trend upward. Hard to imagine him falling him out of the 1st round. He could (sic) pretty high as well — think about ARZ at 15 as a possibility. #NFLDraft

If this report is true, then it’s obviously great news for Jackson. Despite being a highly productive, Heisman-winning quarterback in college, he faced significant questions about his accuracy and effectiveness to play the position in the next level. Apparently, team’s don’t seem to be too concerned with those question marks if they are willing to take him in the first round.

Perhaps teams see the proliferation of college-style spread concepts in the league and recognize that Jackson and his terrific athleticism can thrive in that type of system. Whichever team does land Jackson in the draft – the Cardinals, Bills, Bengals, and Steelers are all the market for a QB of the future – will get a quarterback with a lot of upside and star potential if he can ever develop the type of passing game that can match his electric ability with his legs.
