Last week, former Pro Bowl running back DeMarco Murray saw his tenure with the Tennessee Titans abruptly end after he was cut by the team after just two seasons. This has immediately put him in the free agent market as one of the more intriguing available players at the position.

Murray has already begun making his free agent visits around the league with his first meeting being with the Detroit Lions on Monday. According to Ian Rapoport of The NFL Network, the 30-year-old is expected to follow that up with a scheduled visit with the Seattle Seahawks on Tuesday.

He is coming off the least productive campaign of his career recording career lows with 659 rushing yards on just 3.6 yards per carry in 15 games played. He also ran for more than 100 yards once while failing to break 70 yards in every other contest. His season was cut short due to a torn MCL in his right knee that he suffered in Week 16 against the Los Angeles Rams.

What should be noted is that he had operated in more of split-carry duties with Derrick Henry in a greater compacity this past season that limited his effectiveness as a runner. He is only a season removed from a strong 2016 campaign where he finished third in the league with 1,287 rushing yards, which marked the third 1,000 rushing yard season of his career.

There is a pressing need to address the running game for the Seahawks, who ranked  23rd-best running game in the league this season totaling just 1,629 rushing yards. Much of that production came from Pro Bowl quarterback Russell Wilson being the leading rusher with 586 yards while recording three of their four touchdowns. The only other rushing touchdown came from J.D. McKissic in Week 4 against the Indianapolis Colts.

Seattle currently has a little more than $30.7 million in salary cap space to use to help address that area of need this offseason.
