Colin Kaepernick remains unsigned, but the free-agent quarterback still wants to play.

According to Josina Anderson of ESPN, a team source said that conversations between the unspecified club and Kaepernick have been positive. However, another team source lamented the fact that individual workouts still cannot be conducted due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Kaepernick last appeared in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers in 2016. That season, he played in 12 games and made 11 starts, throwing for 2,241 yards, 16 touchdowns and four interceptions while completing 59.2 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 90.7.

The 32-year-old became a controversial figure at the onset of 2016 when he began kneeling during the national anthem before games as a way of protesting social injustice and police brutality.

Because he has been a free agent ever since that campaign ended, many have concluded that the quarterback has been blackballed by the league.

Over the last few seasons, a handful of teams have expressed interest in signing Colin Kaepernick, although nothing concrete ever occurred.

Kaepernick, who played his collegiate football at the University of Nevada, was originally selected by the 49ers in the second round (36th pick overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft.
