The talk the last few years around the NFL has been about player safety and the Thursday Night Football games. There are a lot of injuries in the NFL week in and week out and playing on Thursday means players that might be able to go on Sunday can't go on Thursday because they are getting three fewer days of treatment.

One thing that was suggested was the teams that play on the Thursday night games get a bye the previous week to make sure players have plenty of time to prepare. It appears that the NFL didn't get much thought to that suggestion because there is not one team that has a bye week before a Thursday night game this upcoming season.

Below is the list of the NFL Thursday night games:

Week 2 Sept. 12 Buccaneers at Panthers
Week 3 Sept. 19 Titans at Jaguars
Week 4 Sept. 26 Eagles at Packers
Week 5 Oct. 3 Rams at Seahawks
Week 6 Oct. 10 Giants at Patriots
Week 7 Oct. 17 Chiefs at Broncos
Week 8 Oct. 24 Redskins at Vikings
Week 9 Oct. 31 49ers at Cardinals
Week 10 Nov. 7 Chargers at Raiders
Week 11 Nov. 14 Steelers at Browns
Week 12 Nov. 21 Colts at Texans
Week 14 Dec. 5 Cowboys at Bears
Week 15 Dec. 12 Jets at Ravens

It makes sense that week two, three, and four games because bye weeks don't start until week four, but after that, there really isn't an excuse for the league to not give bye weeks before a Thursday night game, especially for a league that is trying to act as they care about player safety.
