If anyone knows exactly what Kareem Hunt is going through it's Ray Rice who had a video surface of him knocking out his then-girlfriend. He was released, given an indefinite suspension, and never saw the field again. Since that point, Rice has opened up about the incident and has dedicated his life to making better decisions than the one that knocked out his wife.

“You look back at it and obviously you see some similarities between what happened in my situation,” Rice said Saturday in an exclusive interview with NFL.com. “I'm never going to call myself an expert. I've [publicly] discussed the remorse I have for survivors of domestic violence, but knowing what I know now the top priority is learning that it comes down to those split-second decisions, which come at the most hostile times. And that's where this could be a teaching tool.”

Rice also said that he is willing to help Hunt figure out where to go from here, as long as Hunt is willing to open up and be truthful about what happened leading up to that moment.

“Peer-to-peer, I would definitely try to help him figure out, ‘How can we start dealing with the underlying problems in your life?'” Rice said. “Because he has a long life to live, this will be a defining moment, but it shouldn't be the moment that defines you. For me, I just see you have a long life to live and that doesn't mean just playing football — you need to just live one day at a time.”

Hunt was released by the Kansas City Chiefs the same night the video came out and has been played on the commissioner's exempt list. Monday afternoon the wavier list will come out so that will be the next step for Hunt to see if he was claimed by anyone. It's unclear if any teams have interest in picking him up, but if no one does claim him, it could be a long wait until Hunt gets his next shot.
