When people heard that former NFL tight end Rob Gronkowski was set to make a “big announcement” on Tuesday morning, a lot of them automatically assumed it would be his return to the New England Patriots.

But let's be real here: that was never going to be the case.

And it wasn't.

It turns out, Gronkowski announced that he would be hosting a Miami beach party the day before the Super Bowl:

Of course.

In all seriousness, those expecting a Gronk return should probably give it a rest. It seems like Gronkowski is perfectly content with his retirement. If he were going to come back, he probably would have done so by now.

And who could blame him? The guy had a very successful NFL career and is now living the life of a CBD business owner, FOX analyst, Miami party host and all-around legendary person and player.

The last time we saw Gronkowski was in last year's Super Bowl. He logged six catches for 87 yards in a 13-3 Patriots victory over the Los Angeles Rams.

While he played well in his final game, it wasn't always that easy for Gronkowski in 2018. Not at all.

The 30-year-old dealt with a myriad of injury issues during his final season, playing in 13 games and catching 47 passes for 682 yards and three touchdowns. Solid numbers, but it was clear that Rob Gronkowski was barely even a shell of his former self.

Gronkowski entered the NFL as a second-round pick of New England's in 2010 and went on to make five Pro Bowls while earning four First-Team All-Pro selections. He also won two Super Bowls during his Pats tenure (remember: he did not play in the Super Bowl against the Atlanta Falcons in Feb. of 2017).
