The NFL world lost an absolute legend Tuesday night when former Oakland Raiders head coach and broadcaster John Madden passed away at the age of 85. Players from different generations down to casual NFL fans have voiced out their reactions to Madden's untimely death, and among them was no other than another legend himself, Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady.

Like many of his peers in the NFL, Brady took to social media to offer his respect for Madden (h/t ET Online).

“John called our first Super Bowl,” Brady wrote on the tribute he posted to his Instagram story. “He was always so good to me. RIP to a legend of our game. My condolences and love to the Madden family.”

After his NFL coaching career, Madden found a second career as a broadcaster and became a legend in that endeavor as well. As mentioned by Brady, Madden called the first time Brady played in the Super Bowl with the New England Patriots, which was at the NFL Super Bowl XXXVI in 2002. Brady and the Patriots would beat the St. Louis Rams in that game, 20-17.

Near the end of that Super Bowl contest, Madden even announced that Brady gave him “goosebumps.”

John Madden was a colossal yet humble NFL figure who did more than arguably anyone in making football the no. 1 sport in the US. Tom Brady certainly knows that.
