The Tampa Bay Lightning will stay in Toronto for game two as the Maple Leafs are looking for another win tonight. The Maple Leafs took game one with ease on Monday as they scored early and often, resulting in a final score of 5-0. Can the Leafs stay calm and finally win a playoff series after their curse? It’s time to continue our NHL odds series with a Lightning-Maple Leafs prediction and pick.

Why The Lightning Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Tampa Bay Lightning were straight-up outplayed in game one and it all started early on in the first period when the Bolts went on a five-minute penalty. The Leafs not only killed the penalty but come away with some genuine scoring chances while being a man down. This killed the Bolts' momentum and it never picked up and the Leafs would score their first goal minutes later. They failed to capitalize on any of their scoring chances but will look to turn things around in game two, borderline a must-win scenario to keep the Leafs hopes low. Andrei Vasilevskiy will of course be getting the start again tonight after giving up five goals and holding a .844 save percentage in game 1.

Why The Maple Leafs Can Cover The Spread/Win

The Toronto Maple Leafs put the pressure on the Lightning early on in the game and it paid out well in their favor. As long as the Leafs can maintain the ability to create scoring chances without sacrificing any defense, they're going to easily win this series. They have elite talent on the offensive side of the puck and will look to dominate in that category once again tonight. The Leafs just need momentum on their side, and they'll head into Boston up 2-0 on the series, right where you want to be of course. I expect Jack Campbell to be getting another start in net tonight as he posted a shutout in game one with 24 total saves.

Final Lightning-Maple Leafs Prediction & Pick

The Bolts fell flat in game one, to say the least. The Leafs have looked really good, and as long as they can keep that performance rocking every night, they'll sweep this series. Nobody has been able to slow down the Leafs' offensive ways this whole season, so what makes you think they'd stop now in the playoffs? With that said, it's very possible for the Lightning to swing back in and steal a win off of the Leafs tonight. I'm very torn on this game, it could honestly go either way, but I kind of like the Leafs to take game two at home. I think this series will easily go the distance in seven games, but it depends who early and often the Lightning can strike, pun intended.
