Denver Nuggets guard Gary Harris is a very skilled player. Harris has averaged 19.4 points, 3.4 assists, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.0 steals in five games this season. The Nuggets take on the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday night, and head coach Alvin Gentry had very high praise for Harris.

Gentry's remarks hold a lot of truth. When the conversation of who the best guards in the league are, Gary Harris' name rarely comes up. Sure there are players like James Harden, Klay Thompson, Donovan Mitchell, Bradley Beal, Victor Oladipo, C.J. McCollum just to name a few. What does Gary Harris have to do to get more mentions among his fellow competitors?

Is it because the Nuggets are a small market team and don't often see themselves reach the playoffs?

Harris has grown substantially since his 2014 debut. The first rounder out of Michigan State has seen his stats improve at a steady pace over the years. Since the 2015-16 season, Harris has started nearly every game for the Nuggets. Last season was definitely his best, averaging 17.5 points, 2.9 assists, and 3.4 rebounds.

The Nuggets fifth-year man has become a go to scorer and has a near-elite 3-point shot. Harris maintained a 39.6 shooting percentage from beyond the arc last season. That's incredibly impressive given he attempted nearly 400 3-point shots last season.

It appears Harris is starting to gain some recognition from players across the league and opposing coaches. Alvin Gentry has been around the league for a long time, so praise from the Pelicans coach is definitely worth noting.
